Most often, the condensing unit is used in combination with ventilation units equipped with direct cooling systems, or indoor units of split-systems of channel, wall-mounted, cabinet and other types. The air conditioning system using KKB is one of the most affordable and cheapest solutions.

How the compressor and condenser unit works

SRF2K Compact filter Ecofilter with capacity from 1000 to 2000 m3/h

The device of the compressor and condenser unit

The KKB consists of the following elements:

  • Compressor (one or more)

  • Control system and power supply

  • Condenser coil (except version with remote condenser)

  • Axial or centrifugal fan

In addition, for the operation of the refrigeration system, the condensing unit is equipped with a connecting kit, which includes:

  • Thermal expansion valve

  • Filter drier

  • Sight glass

  • Solenoid valve

Types of condensing units

  1. KKB air-cooled with axial fans. This type is chosen if the unit is installed outdoors. This is the cheapest option and requires enough free space outside to supply the unit with the required amount of air to cool the condenser.

  2. Air-cooled KKB with centrifugal fans. This type is chosen when installing the unit inside technical rooms and connecting it to a duct system through which outside air will be supplied and removed to cool the condenser. This option is suitable for objects where there is no place for installing a KKB on the building itself or near it.

  3. A water-cooled KKB is used when the unit is installed inside technical rooms and a cooling tower is used to provide water cooling to the condenser. The water-cooled option makes it possible to reduce the size of the KKB and install it indoors with minimal space loss. An additional advantage is the ability to install the KKB and the cooling tower at a great distance from each other.

  4. KKB with a remote condenser is used when the unit is installed inside technical rooms, and the condenser heat exchanger is taken out of the room to the street. This option allows you to minimize the occupied area in the technical room.

How to choose a condensing unit

When choosing a KKB, the following parameters should be considered:

Type of KKB, the choice of which depends on the area of the technical room, free space for installing KKB and available financial resources.

  • Boiling temperature in evaporators

  • Condensing temperature (or outdoor air temperature during the calculated summer period)

  • Load on KKB

  • freon type

  • Number of circuits

All these data must be reported to the specialists of the supplier company, who will select the option that best meets your needs.

Installation of condensing units

Mounting and installation of KKB should be carried out by specialized organizations whose personnel have received appropriate training and received certificates for the installation of this equipment. To connect the unit, you will need specialized equipment and tools. In some cases, when installing high-power units, refueling or full refilling with freon will be required.
