The Dyson air purifier is a device that not only cleans the air, but also warms, humidifies, cools, kills bacteria and eliminates unpleasant odors. There are several different models that differ in additional functionality and price. The device has its pros and cons. How the air cleaner justifies itself, read on.

What is a device?

The main purpose of the device is to purify the air in the room. Each model is equipped with a fan function and a sealed filter that traps and eliminates any contaminants, including viruses and bacteria down to 0.1 microns.

Cleaner in the bedroom

According to the manufacturer Dyson, air cleaners are designed with the latest technology. The devices have a stylish design and a powerful cleaning system. Suitable for any home space.

Most of the body is made of white plastic, which makes the device neat and attractive. Other external features:

  • Thanks to smooth bends, dirt that appears during the use of the device is easily removed.
  • The lower part of the air cleaner is the air duct. It is painted in a silver shade and is also made of durable plastic.
  • Some models, for example, Dyson Pure Hot + Cool, tilt in different directions, changing the direction of the air flow. The block itself also rotates 350 degrees. Tilts do not interfere with the mobility of the block.
  • There is only one button on the body of the device — power on and off. Other functions are controlled by the remote control.
  • The buttons on the remote control are intuitive. You can store it on the top of the case — a magnetic mount was specially installed there.

There is a color display on the body of the remote control, which indicates important information:

  • technical details;
  • operating modes;
  • temperature, humidity and air quality;
  • content of various particles in the air.

Device and principle of operation

The manufacturer tried to create a simple compact device that allows you to use and maintain the device yourself without special technical knowledge.

Dyson Pure Cool Me

Using the example of the Dyson Pure Hot + Cool model (cooling + heating function), let’s analyze how the air cleaner works and works. The device consists of several parts:

  • Heating part with dissipation of purified air. Heating elements are made of ceramics. They automatically adjust the required air temperature before it exits the diffuser.
  • Air Multiplier Technology. A diffuser that conducts 310 liters of air through the “ring” in 1 second. The air flow is powerful, but feels soft. The system circulates a stream of purified air throughout the room.
  • Thermostat regulator. Located at the bottom of the device. Prevents the device from overheating. As soon as the temperature level reaches the desired value (this is set by the user), the device stops heating. When the degrees decrease, the device turns it on.
  • 2 separate circuits. Through them, air exits from the front or back of the device.
  • Circular double filter. Covers 360 degrees around itself. Consists of a HEPA filter that collects the smallest dust particles and 99.95% of micro-allergens and pollutants.
    Inside is a second activated carbon filter. It captures gaseous substances — nitrogen dioxide, formaldehyde and benzene.
  • Intelligent sensors. They do air control. In real time, they inform the user about the state of the airspace (its quality).
  • Built-in LCD display. Displays all useful information about the air.

How an air purifier works:

  1. Polluted air enters the filter.
  2. Then it goes through a thorough cleaning inside the system.
  3. The distribution “ring” evenly releases clean air throughout the room.

Dyson equipment has no restrictions on the cubic capacity of the room. This information is not included in the instructions. The area of the room can only affect the rate of air purification or heating.

Each model has its own specifications. Below is a general list of performance data and fixtures.

Technical details:

  • Number of speeds. All models have a standard — 10.
  • Air flow power. From 28 to 324 liters per second.
  • The weight. From 2.8 kg to 8.29 kg.
  • Cord length — 1.8 m.
  • Noise level. There are silent models with night mode. The average level is 41 dB. With active powerful work — up to 62 dB.
  • Power consumption — up to 40 watts.

air purifier

Additional functionality:

  • moisturizing;
  • cooling;
  • heating;
  • fan;
  • air purification control;
  • WiFi.

What’s Included:

  • the device itself;
  • remote control;
  • power unit;
  • user manual;
  • batteries (not on all models).

Pros and cons of the device

Having studied the principles of operation of Dyson air purifiers and familiarized yourself with their functionality, you can notice many advantages:

  • the device qualitatively purifies the air;
  • has many additional functions;
  • suitable for any room design;
  • has small dimensions;
  • easy to use and maintain;
  • there is a wide selection of devices, including the availability of budget models;
  • The machine is almost silent.

On review sites, users are actively discussing Dyson’s shortcomings:

  • Even with the night mode, the device makes sounds. Though not loud, but disturbing sleep.
  • The mobile app is not working. It is banned in Russia. Smartphone control is not possible. At the moment, work is underway to create a working application in our country.
  • High price. Even for state employees of the middle class, it does not justify itself.
  • Expensive consumables. It is recommended to change the filter 1 time in 6–12 months (depending on pollution). 1 replacement filter costs more than 5–7 thousand rubles.
  • Does not save (does not cool) in dry, hot, stuffy weather. It is primarily a purifier, not a cooler or humidifier.
  • After a month of active work, the air cleaner filter remains as clean as possible (white, without dust), although, if we take a simple vacuum cleaner as an example, after 20 minutes of air intake in the room, the filter in it becomes gray and dusty. Conclusion — cleansing is not so thorough.

How to use a Dyson air purifier?

Detailed instructions for using the air cleaner are supplied separately with each model. General recommendations for using the Dyson Pure Hot+Cool appliance:

  1. Remove the device from the carton.
  2. Unpack all accessories.
  3. Press down buttons on the sides and remove the outer protective panels.
  4. Insert both parts of the combined filter.
  5. Then reinstall the protective panels.
  6. Before use, make sure that the device is assembled exactly according to the instructions. Do not disassemble the device or use it without the oval attached.
  7. Install on a flat and stable surface.
  8. Take the power supply from the box and connect it to the device, then plug it into the mains.
  9. Turn on the device by pressing the button on the front panel or using the remote control.
  10. Select “Auto” on the remote control. When enabled, a quick calibration is performed. In this cycle, the air speed control is carried out automatically, adjusting to the room temperature and optimal heating. When calibration ends, the device operates at the set airflow rate.
  11. Next, select the desired room temperature:
    • pressing the big red button allows you to increase the desired temperature by 1 degree;
    • pressing the small red button decreases the temperature by 1 degree.

The air cleaner does not work as a heater if the set temperature is below room temperature.

Selecting a suitable location and security

Just putting the device in the selected room is not enough. In order for the device to properly circulate purified air, it is important to install it in a convenient and safe place:

  • the optimal solution is floor installation;
  • if you have small children or pets, place the cleaner on a table or cabinet;
  • if it is not possible to install the device low, try to have 1 m of free space from its top to the ceiling.

Which location is undesirable for installation:

  • Placing the air cleaner under the table, in the closet, behind the curtains. It’s pointless.
  • Do not place the device near heating elements — radiators and other heaters.
  • It is not recommended to install the cleaner on window sills in winter. The room will get very cold.

Instrument care

The manufacturer does not indicate the frequency of cleaning the air cleaner. But it is known that nothing can be washed and cleaned inside the device. The filter is disposable. When it is time to replace it, the corresponding information appears on the screen of the device.

The outer part of the device still has to be cleaned as it gets dirty. It is recommended to use a dry and damp cloth or soft bristle brush. It is advisable to use special wet wipes for cleaning equipment.

Models with a humidification function have a deep cleaning. This is an automatic evaporator cleaning program. It is carried out in several steps indicated in the instructions that come with the device.

How to check the remaining life of the filter using the remote control:

  1. Click on the “Information” button.
  2. The screen will display information about the resource of each filter.

Then follow the instructions:

  1. Before changing the filter, turn off the air cleaner and unplug it from the mains.
    Switch off
  2. Press the 2 buttons located on the sides of the instrument simultaneously to remove the protective cover.
  3. Then take out the appropriate filter.
    Take out the filter
  4. Insert a new filter and assemble the device in the same sequence.
    Insert new
  5. Plug the device back into the network and press the “Power on” button.
  6. Reset filter life. When replacing the HEPA filter, press and hold the night mode button on the remote control for five seconds. If you changed the charcoal filter, press and hold the Sleep Timer button for 5 seconds. If you replaced both filters at once, press and hold each button in turn.

Marina, 29 years old, Tomsk. Bought a Dyson Pure Hot+Cool six months ago. The thing is cool. I don’t know if it actually cleans the air as thoroughly as they promise, but I have become much stronger in sleeping with it. Cools nicely, but not like an air conditioner. Just a gentle, barely perceptible breeze. Minus one — the loan for him is still paying.

Valery, 44 years old, Moscow. I’m allergic. Purposefully purchased an air cleaner. I chose Dyson, because I have a vacuum cleaner from the same company — it has been serving faithfully for the second year. He has no price. This is where the air purifier comes in handy. I read that many complain that it does not work and does not save from allergies. Guys, close the windows. So that pollen and allergens do not enter the room in a constant stream. Turned on the dyson, and after 20 minutes no allergens — cleanliness. But you should not expect the freshness of alpine meadows from the device.

Air purifiers from Dyson are considered a new generation of technology, so their price is high. Stylish design, versatility, patented technologies — all this gives an advantage over competitors. If you can’t afford such equipment, get more budget climate equipment.
