Fans are designed to direct air in the desired direc­tion. One of their vari­eties is a cen­trifu­gal fan, and its scope main­ly con­cerns one or anoth­er type of pro­duc­tion. It dif­fers from all oth­er types of fans in the size and num­ber of blades (blades), as well as in the direc­tion of the bend.

Centrifugal fan device

All cen­trifu­gal fans con­sist of such com­po­nents as an impeller mount­ed on a shaft, a spi­ral hous­ing, inlet and dis­charge pipes.

When the gas enters the fan hous­ing through the suc­tion man­i­fold, the direc­tion of move­ment is changed by the work­ing blades of the impeller and then exits the dis­charge pipe in the radi­al direc­tion.

Types of centrifugal fans

All cen­trifu­gal fans can be divid­ed into two large groups:

  • gen­er­al pur­pose devices;
  • spe­cial pur­pose devices.

The main dif­fer­ence between them is the tem­per­a­ture regime. In addi­tion, the air itself, with which you have to work, also dif­fers.

So, a gen­er­al-pur­pose fan is usu­al­ly installed in rooms where there is no aggres­sive envi­ron­ment that can cause cor­ro­sion, and there are no sticky air com­pounds. The air tem­per­a­ture should not exceed the max­i­mum allow­able. Usu­al­ly this para­me­ter is in the range from ‑35 to +35°C.

If these para­me­ters can­not be observed, or if it is an emer­gency sys­tem, spe­cial-pur­pose fans are installed. In addi­tion to exhaust air, they also remove smoke. Dif­fer in dura­bil­i­ty and reli­a­bil­i­ty, can work in rooms with espe­cial­ly high tem­per­a­ture (up to 75 °C).

Inline cen­trifu­gal fan is used to direct air mass­es in round ducts of exhaust and sup­ply ven­ti­la­tion sys­tems for pub­lic, domes­tic, indus­tri­al or admin­is­tra­tive premis­es. Such fans are ready for instal­la­tion and con­nec­tion, they can be installed in any posi­tion, that is, they can be adjust­ed to the direc­tion of air flow.

Characteristics of centrifugal fans

What to look for when choos­ing such a fan? The main char­ac­ter­is­tics include the per­for­mance of cen­trifu­gal fans, their pow­er, total pres­sure, fan weight, impeller speed, type and num­ber of vibra­tion iso­la­tors.

The char­ac­ter­is­tics of the fans are obtained by direct test­ing them at a con­stant speed. Recal­cu­lat­ing the stan­dard char­ac­ter­is­tics to real ones, they take into account the change in pres­sure and pow­er on the shaft, which occurs in pro­por­tion to the den­si­ty of the gas sup­plied by the fan

The noise char­ac­ter­is­tic of the fan does not depend much on the speed, the mate­r­i­al of man­u­fac­ture and the acoustic envi­ron­ment around.
